THE CAMBRIDGE PRIMARY SCHOOL

New Primary School Opening September 2018

The Cambridge Primary School Progress Update

Work at Aldershot’s new school, The Cambridge Primary School, is well under way and on track for the school to open in September 2018.

The school, which is currently being designed and built by Hampshire County Council,  is sponsored by Engage Enrich Excel Academies (EEEA), and will be at the centre of 3,850 new homes at Wellesley.

Now planned to open with one Reception class, accommodating 30 children, over time the school will provide 420 places for 4 to 11 year olds. The school’s phased intake will meet the needs of the new Wellesley community.  EEEA will be hosting a prospective parents meeting on Tuesday 14th November at Smith Dorrien House in Aldershot. CEO David Harris will be discussing the Trusts aims for the school and there will be an opportunity for parents to understand how they can become involved in shaping this amazing community development

Parents will be able to apply for a place at the school from 1st November 2017 online via Hampshire County Council’s Schools Admissions  web page.

CEO David Harris said: “We are working with Hampshire County Council to help deliver a world-class school. Hampshire’s staff have been fantastic and we have worked with them to design a school building that will provide an excellent start to any child’s learning. By this time next year children and families will be learning in a rich environment. Every detail has been meticulously planned to ensure that learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom. The Cambridge Primary School will be a centre of excellence for all, a place which will foster the hopes and dreams of its community.”

Councillor Peter Edgar, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Education, commented: “Thanks to our strong track record in planning for the future, our provision of additional school places is keeping pace with continued rising demand in Hampshire”.

Continuing, Councillor Edgar said “We pride ourselves on investing in quality school buildings that are built to be sustainable and provide a good environment for learning. Having a significant in-house team of property designers, who specialise in school buildings, results in excellent spaces for learning in top quality, functional facilities that are aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient and sustainable.”

Alan Chitson, Development Manager at Grainger Plc, said: “We are really pleased to see Wellesley’s first school progressing so well and on track to open next September.  Schools sit at the heart of a community and we are working closely with EEEA to ensure that first rate schools for future generations are delivered here at Wellesley.”
